Bob Sanderson, PGA Golf Professional

Bob Sanderson has been the resident PGA Golf Professional at Widow’s Walk Golf Course since the course first opened in 1997, bringing to the newly created position an impressive background as a golf course manager and teaching professional.
A veteran with over 35 years of professional experience, he has provided golf instruction at The International in Bolton, Mass, The Golf School at Stow Acres in Stow, Mass., Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, Mass., and Crestview Country Club in Agawam, Mass.
During the past 19 years at Widow’s Walk, Bob has gained a well-earned reputation as an outstanding teaching professional. In 1998, he was voted the "Teacher of the Year" for the Massachusetts Chapter of the NEPGA.

SCITUATE RECREATION DEPARTMENT GROUP CLINICS:

Widow’s Walk offers a number of Adult (five-week) and Junior (four-week) Golf Clinics tailored for beginners and intermediate golfers from April - October. Sponsored by Scituate Recreation Department, the clinics are taught by members of the Widow’s Walk staff at a reasonable fee for both residents and non-residents. INTRODUCTORY JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAMS (Ages 8-14)

Teaching ratio - 8:1
Program Content: An introduction to golf touching on rules and etiquette. Basic instruction for putting, chipping, pitching, and the full swing. A skills competition will complete each session.
Program Mission: The development of enthusiasm and love for the game of golf is the benchmark used to judge the success of the program.

Tuesdays, June - July from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Maximum group size: 32.

Tuesdays, July - Aug. from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Maximum group size: 32.


INTERMEDIATE JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAMS (Ages 9-15)

Teaching ratio -- 8:1
Program Content: A continuation of the Introductory Program involving a more technical approach. A skills competition will complete each session.
Program Mission: To provide an environment for motivated students to advance their golf games to a higher level.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of an Introductory Junior Program with an above average level of skill and motivation.

INTRODUCTORY ADULT PROGRAMS (18 & Over)

Teaching Ratio: 8:1
Program Content: This Introductory program will focus on pre-swing fundamentals, putting, and full-swing mechanics. We will also touch on golf course orientation, rules, and golf etiquette. This course is tailored to the beginner golfer.


INTERMEDIATE ADULT PROGRAMS (18 & Over)

Teaching Ratio 6:1
Program Content: These more advanced sessions are tailored to experienced golfers or students that have completed an introductory golf program.
There are two offerings, one for full swing mechanics and the other is a short game series.
