Golf Leagues

Widow's Walk offers a number of golf leagues that are open to the public. Please contact Bob Sanderson at bsanderson@scituatema.gov if you are interested in any of the leagues listed below:

Women's League

This league is played on Monday evenings from June through August, with a shotgun start at 5:15. There are two (5) week sessions with a low-pressure competition each night, designed to appeal to all levels of golf ability. Players must make a prepaid commitment and can choose to participate in either or both of the sessions. Your payment covers green fees, cart fees, prizes, and a light meal at the conclusion of each evening. Participation is limited to (60) players per session. Alternates are generally needed each night, for those of you who would rather not commit to a full session of play.

Senior Leagues

This league is for men and women age 55 and over. Play is on Tuesday mornings from April through November. There is a weekly sign-up sheet in the Golf Shop that is collected on Friday evenings so that scheduled starting times can be posted by Sunday afternoon. Tee times generally range from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. and vary slightly by the season. A light competition is played on a quota scoring system, with prizes awarded weekly. The quota system is used in order to maintain a good pace of play while eliminating the need for a USGA handicap. Players are expected to arrive at least (20) minutes prior to their tee times to allow for check-in and payment. Although this is a pay as you play program, once the starting times are posted we expect players to honor their commitment in fairness to all involved.
There is a similar men's league on Thursday mornings.

Men's League

This league is played on Tuesday evenings from late April through August, with a shotgun start at 5:15. This league is a round robin format consisting of (14) regular season contests, followed by up to an additional (4) playoff matches for those who qualify. There is also an 18-hole Saturday afternoon "Field Day" and barbeque. This is a 2-ball best-ball league that allows players to select a partner of their choice, if desired. This league requires a prepaid commitment of $599 to cover all league expenses for the season. Your payment includes green fees, cart fees, "Light Bites", "Field Day", GHIN handicap, and prizes. Participation is limited to (56) teams/(112) players. Alternates are generally needed each night, for those of you who would rather not commit to the full season of play.

Super Senior League

This 9-hole league is for men and women age 65 and over. Play is on Wednesday mornings April through October. There is a weekly sign-up sheet in the Golf Shop that is collected on Saturday so that scheduled starting times can be posted by Monday of each week. Tee times generally range from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. and vary slightly by the season.

*Junior League Golf*

The "PGA JLG" is a new national program that is designed to bring a "Little League" atmosphere to the game of golf. Teams of boys and girls, age 13 and under, compete and have fun in a structured league environment. Teams are comprised of (12) players who all get to play in every competition. Competitions are generally played with home and away contests against other local courses. Parental involvement is required with this program. More details will follow.  Similar to "Little League", parental involvement and "coaching" will be necessary for this program to succeed.
*This is an exciting new venture for Widow's Walk. First and foremost, we will need enough interest to field at least one and possibly multiple teams along with volunteers. Please contact us ASAP with questions and interest.*
