Golf Leagues
Widow’s Walk offers a number of golf leagues that are open to the public. Please contact Ian Kelley, PGA at ikelley@scituatema.gov if you are interested in any of the leagues listed below:
Senior Leagues for Men & Women
This league is for men and women age 55 and over. Play is on Tuesday mornings from April through November. There is a weekly sign-up sheet in the Golf Shop that is collected on Friday evenings so that scheduled starting times can be posted by Sunday afternoon. Tee times generally range from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. and vary slightly by the season. A light competition is played on a quota scoring system, with prizes awarded weekly. The quota system is used in order to maintain a good pace of play while eliminating the need for a USGA handicap. Players are expected to arrive at least (20) minutes prior to their tee times to allow for check-in and payment. Although this is a pay as you play program, once the starting times are posted we expect players to honor their commitment in fairness to all involved.
There is a similar men’s league on Thursday mornings.
Tuesday Night League
This league is played on Tuesday evenings from May through August, with a shotgun start at 5:15. This league is a round robin format consisting of (13) regular season contests, followed by up to an additional (4) playoff matches for those who qualify. There is also an 18-hole Saturday afternoon “Field Day” and banquet. This is a 2-ball best-ball league that allows players to select a partner of their choice, if desired. This league requires a prepaid commitment of $649 to cover all league expenses for the season. Your payment includes green fees, cart fees, “Light Bites”, “Field Day”, GHIN handicap, and prizes. Alternates are generally needed each night, for those of you who would rather not commit to the full season of play.
Super Senior League
This 9-hole league is for men and women age 65 and over. Play is on Wednesday mornings April through October. There is a weekly sign-up sheet in the Golf Shop that is collected on Saturday so that scheduled starting times can be posted by Monday of each week. Tee times generally range from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. and vary slightly by the season. A light competition is played on a quota scoring system, with prizes awarded weekly. The quota system is used in order to maintain a good pace of play while eliminating the need for a USGA handicap. Players are expected to arrive at least (20) minutes prior to their tee times to allow for check-in and payment.
